Rally of Tsumagoi is the 17 years 4WD vehicle speed rally competition which will be held in Tsumagoi Village located in north-west Gunma Prefecture where the most highland cabbages are produced in Japan. Rallies can be held in all weather conditions, but a winter rally on snow and ice is a rare event in Japan.

Tsumagoi Village has many closed snowy roads during the winter. A rally event was first held in 2007 as “BICC Snow & Ice Rally 2007” in order to make effective use of these roads and to revitalise the local areas by welcoming many visitors to the village as well as to enhance understanding of motor sports among locals.

In 2008, the name of the event was changed to ‘BICC Rally of Tsumagoi’, and since 2012, ‘JAF East Japan Rally Championship’ has been a part of the event. In 2016, the event was upgraded to one of the few international class rally events in Japan with a new name ‘FIA International Rally of Tsumagoi.’ One of the factors behind the successful continuation of the event over the years is the full partnership with Tsumagoi Village. They have been supporting the even by clearing snow on the SS roads which requires a great deal of work, and what not.

However, the 2020 event was cancelled due to damages to the roads in the village by Typhoon No. 19, which caused extensive damage throughout eastern Japan, and the 2021 and 2022 events were cancelled at the last minute to prevent spread of COVID-19.

Now we are planning to hold Rally of Tsumagoi 2023 as the opening round of 2023 FIA APRC Asia Cup, 2023 Japanese Rally Championship and Japan Super Rally. We will be waiting for your entry.
